I’m interested in how ecological communities manage to be diverse and self-sustaining. I study how species interact with one another and the patterns these interactions form, which in turn tells us about the processes which maintain diversity and stability. By developing new models and statistical frameworks which are then applied to empirical data, I work on understanding what drives differences in diversity, species persistence and composition among the planet’s natural communities.
